When choosing your wedding decorations you will want to consider the interests of both the bride and the groom and try to have them reflect something that represents their lifestyle. Try to keep it somewhat unique and memorable as well as attractive so that not only will the couple be thrilled with how their wedding decorations turn out but the guests will be impressed as well.

More often than not it will be up to the bride and her female friends or family who are going to be the ones that will be making most of the decisions on how they want the wedding decor to look, but having some input from the groom should also be part of the this undertaking. After all, it is his big day too.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when choosing the decorations for your wedding day.

First consider whether the wedding will be formal or casual because this can make a big difference in what types of decorations you choose such as the flower arrangements, candles, and centerpieces. For example a casual wedding can be light and fun with some balloons or feathers added into the centerpieces whereas with a more formal wedding you will want to keep them more traditional.

Another thing to keep in mind are the colors of that the bridesmaids and groomsmen will be wearing as you will want everything to flow smoothly and go well together.

What about the site of the wedding ceremony and the reception? This is another factor to keep in mind and taking pictures of both areas can help you when deciding on how you will be decorating each of these areas. The size of each area is another thing to consider since you don't want your decorations to overrun the guests or more importantly to interfere with the ceremony or the reception activities.

Consider how much time you are going to have for setting up your wedding decorations so that you can choose settings that will fit into that time frame. Most of the time the decorating can be done a few hours before the wedding but remember that someone will also have to take the decorations down after each event.

How many guests are going to be attending the wedding? Are your dinner tables going to be large or small? Choosing the number of center pieces and how they are going to fit on each table is going to make a big difference at the reception but this is another reason to take into consideration the size of the area and how any floor decorations may affect the festivities.

If you are planning to have a lot of children, it may be a good idea to have an area that is decorated to suit them as well. Maybe some more sturdy arrangements can be used here.

Also keep in mind how much money you are going to want to spend and stick with your budget. You can put together a beautiful event if you take the time to plan out your wedding decorations and then shop around for the best places to buy or rent whatever you need.

It is often more affordable to simple rent some of the larger items that will be used such as pedestals or arc ways. Some venues may already have mirrors that can be placed under the center pieces so be sure to ask what they offer as far as helping with the decorating of the reception area.

Unless you have an extra-large wedding planned and really want to be super extravagant, keeping it simple with some flower arrangements, candles and a beautiful wedding cake can make for some exquisite wedding decorations.
